The train whistle was one of the funniest things I've heard in a long time. Still chuckling. Thank you for the laugh!

I have just recently gotten into woodworking and this is one of the first projects on my list. I've watched several videos on making a leg vise and it amazes me seeing the beauty you have created here. This video is 2 years old and I have not seen another video that even compares to this build. I will give credit to Rex Krueger. His video on making the cheap version of the leg vise out of pine is what led me to your channel. Keep up the great work as I binge watch your videos.

Thank you for sharing your gardens. I have enjoyed the journey and have learned so much. Working in my gardens is a labor of love. The benches are absolutely beautiful. Great space to relax and enjoy all of your hard work.

"The best wood to use is the wood you have available." Simple but yet very effective and true advice!!! Really nice work bench and innovative ideas for the vice. Thanks Jay!

Jay that Hickory has some wicked grain in it..Great job. This spring I'm going to try and make a bench like this. I'm a beginning woodworker. I seen one of your vids back when you were at the apartment complex and you got me started on woodworking. Being an Amputee and in a wheelchair your vids got me through the 8 months I was in the hospital. So Thank you Jay...

Someday Jay, someone is going to look at this beautiful bench with the patina given to it by the craftsman who built it with awe and wonder just what stories it could tell if it could talk. Beautifully done.

That is the most beautiful leg vise I've ever seen. The jumbled grain in that piece of hickory was a great choice, and oiling it brought out the beauty of the piece. Love your simple solution for adjusting the foot of the vise.

You are so detailed in your explanations and thinking. What a beautiful mind. Seriously. Don’t lose that! Amidst a world where stupidity seems comenplace, maybe even “cool”, I like coming here to gain in my intellect :)

Thank God! I'm glad you painted the hardware black! The blue was stressing me out on that awesome looking bench. Lol Good job!

The handle hardware looks so much better in black...I agree! Love how you put it about the dowels you substituted for the screws..."and now you'll never see them again." ha ha. Great video, Jay!

I sure am glad I waited until the end of the video. I had to double my anxiety meds for stressing over the screws and blue paint. WHEW! Great job and this is the bench I'm building.

When all the rest of YouTube is spending tons of time and money building torsion boxes, MFTs, and adding Benchcrafted Leg vice$, it is really refreshing to see such a simply built, beautiful, functional bench.

And the choochoo at 12:30 really had me glad that I was not drinking coffee - I would have spewed all over! :-D

I'm laughing about the dowels and screws a bit more than I think I should. Anyway, I enjoy watching your videos. They are always fun! Thanks for sharing!

Your articulation is so precise and clear. You explain things so thoroughly without pontificating. I'll never be a woodworking in the traditional sense, but I still gain useful knowledge from your videos. Thanks, Jay

This might be the most beautiful work bench I have seen!  I think/thought walnut would be my choice of wood but after seeing the hickory I am rethinking it all.  Amazing job thanks for sharing!  The things people loose sleep over never cease to amaze me

Very nicely done. Just what I needed to see before I replace my nearly 40 year old table made from 2x6 construction lumber.

Beautiful work Mr Bates. I'm in the middle of building my own work bench at the moment and you have given me a lot to think about. Thank you.
