2023 CANADA SWIMMING TRIALS SUNDAY MORNING PIONEERS HEAT TABLE The last day of the 2023 Canadian Swimming Trials is here. The Sunday morning qualifying session will feature 200 freestyle and 50 flight qualifiers. There will also be timed finals of women's 800 freestyle and men's 1500 freestyle this morning, with slower qualifiers taking place at end of this qualifying session. The fastest of the women's 800 and men's 1500 races will be floated to the finals tonight. Money 100 return will also occur this morning. All eyes will be on 16-year-old Summer McIntosh once again today in the Women's 200 freestyle competition. At the event, Candian and World Junior Record holder McIntosh are in first place with a record score of 154.13, nearly four seconds faster than second-place Mary-Sophie Harvey . After breaking World Record at 400 free and 400 IMs at this reunion and scaring 200 IM WRs, tonight we'll see if young player can run on one of longest standing records in books. Federica Pellegrini set the WR mark of 152.98 in 2009, and for all the 200 outstanding freestylers we've seen since then, none have hit that record. Finlay Knox is in first place in the men's 200 freestyle with 147.92. More importantly, FINA "A" cut stops 147.06, so we'll need to see at least one person drop from their seed to qualify for the World Championship team event. No Maggie MacNeil in the ladies' 50 fly today. In her absence, Katerine Savard leads the entries with 26.14. He was seeded first by a comfortable margin. Josh Liendo is in first place with a time of 23.42 in the men's 50 flies. In particular, it's just outside the Canadian Record of 23.30, which has been standing since 2015, so keep an eye out for that sign today as well. MONEY WOMEN 100 BACKPACK MULTI CLASS Shelby Newkirk 123.32 Danielle Dorris 123.66 Katie Cosgriffe 111.10 Mary Jibb 114.75 Emma Van Dyk 112.69 Arianna Hunsicker 116.87 Angela Marina 116.13 Kylin Tan 133.73 Justine Morrier 118.07 Katarina Roxon 123.66 Dee Kisser 144.73 Shelby Kirk took the lead this morning with a time of 123.32 on the ladies' money 100. Both men achieved a time of 104.41 and, as swimmers in same division, scored the same number of points in swims. Bennett came out faster than MaMacDonald and split 30.44 into MacDonald's 31.45 in the top 50, but MacDonald came home faster. WOMEN 200 FREE STYLE – QUALIFICATIONS World Record 152.98, Federica Pellegrini – 2009 Canadian Record 154.13, Summer McIntosh – 2023 – 2023 FINA 'A' Cut 158.66 Summer McIntosh took the lead this morning with a time of 157.17, marking another comfortable qualifying race for the superstar. She was relatively fast this morning, swimming 56.48 out of the opening 100. Then McIntosh came home at 10069 in the last 100. McIntosh has already set personal records in his other four events in this event, including World Records at 400 free 400 IM, as well as Canadian and World Junior Records at 200 IM 200 Fly. Given his performances at this point in the game, we can expect McIntosh to make a five-to-five personal best tonight and break Canadian and World Junior Records tonight in the race. Ella Jansen was a very solid swim this morning with 158.52 seconds. Its time came just 0.22 seconds after its seed, she. More importantly, it was also under the FINA "A" cut of 158.66.
