Should I try this with the iPhone 16 back glass...?
This part is apparently made of 100% recycled aluminum on it.

not sure if it would help or not but try scratching up the metal heavily before adding the gallium to cut through any oxidation that may have formed

Bro’s still trying to find the best way to make that iPhone 14 back glass transparent 😂😂

In this circumstance you have to call Nilered, and you’re both from Canada too

Scratch the aluminum first. Keep the temperature above room temperature the whole time. It should work

It’s unfortunate but you are a freaking genius for even think of that

Aluminum will quickly form an oxide layer on the outside of the metal as soon as it is exposed to air. You need to put the gallium on the aluminum and then use a sewing needle or something sharp to scratch the aluminum once the gallium is already on top of it. When you do this it allows the gallium to enter the aluminum as the oxide layer does not form underneath the gallium. Not sure if you tried this or not.

When applying gallium you need to scratch it through the gallium pool. Aluminum almost instantly creates an oxide layer when exposed to oxygen and the only way to prevent it would be to pour the gallium on the aluminum then poke through the gallium scratching it and allowing the gallium access to the bare aluminum.

In order for the Galium to penetrate the aluminum, you need to remove some of the oxydation layer that aluminum has by scratching it with a sharp object and right after the scratching, you apply the Galium to the aluminum, if you don't remove some of the oxydation layer, Galium will never be able to penetrate the aluminum

This is like pouring acid on your car’s hood to get to the engine compartment.

I'm pretty sure that backing is just stainless steel

@PRG, the gallium should be in liquid form in order to react with the aluminium

Aluminium has a natural protective layer that shields it against the gallium and it regenerates within seconds. To make it work, you need to pour some of the gallium to mage a big ball on top of the aluminium, the take something very sharp an scratch the aluminum THROUGH the liquid gallium ball so it doesn't have a single second to regenerate.

You need to scuff the metal, most aluminum has a coating of oxidation that protects it

Aluminium oxide that forms when the aluminium of the back glass is exposed to the oxygen in the air protects set aluminium from the gallium so you need to scratch the aluminium while the gallium is still on it so there’s no possible way that another oxide layer forms or you get something that will remove that oxide laver

Try having the backing and the gallium in hot water to make sure it wash just that the gallium froze on contact of the metal backing
