That is absolutely disgusting. Why the hell would they only give animals 72 hours before they get euthanized? 72 hours normally isn’t enough to even find someone looking for an animal around the same age, let alone get them actually adopted. Animals need multiple months before being transported at the worst, especially if the shelter isn’t popular.

A shelter that will kill ANY animal within 72 hours is cruel and wrong.

I already only visit no kill shelters, but my GOD, most that still do that at least give them a CHANCE for adoption! Like, after 3 months, they are trying to give others chances... But, thats not even a shelter, that was just a paid disposal. Yikes

I was gonna take a kitten to the aspca and they told me that they may put her down and I just couldn’t sign that waiver. That was 8 or 9 years ago and she’s a HUGE LOVEBUG and meow yodels every time I pet her head.

my friend brought her dog to a vet and they said her old dog was very sick and had to be put down. she went back to get a new dog and was looking for one she saw her dog sitting in a cage perfectly healthy. they were trying to resell her dog and took money from her at the vet. long story short they got sued in a class action lawsuit.

That happened with my grandparents. They bought a trio of husky pups: Napoleon, Flowers, and Saphire . We lived with them at the time and helped raise them.

Napoleon had snuck out of the pen and ran off. The next day we find out what shelter he had gone to and they went to get him. Between being told where he was and getting there, they put him down.

I had volunteered there with girl scouts and i had wanted to work there in a few years. Now ive refused to work a in any pet shelter, even though it was my dream and over a decade later a part of me still wants to. I just cant support it, it's wrong.

I remember this happy little american foxhound named Sneakers that i cared for when i was there and i desperately wanted to adopt him. My parents weren't able to adopt him then and i always wonder if he ever made it out of there.

Kill shelters are absolutely cruel. Animals should not be put down if they are healthy and willing to live.

They did something similar to my mom. We brought two wild cats into the shelter to get fixed and we were supposed to be able to get them both back. We weren't contacted, and the kitten was given up to someone else. My mom had called the previous day to ask if she was ready.

I don't understand how animal shelters can even do that, it seems so immoral

Sometimes people will go on trips for a few days and drop their pets off at shelters, thinking there is no way the animal will be put down or rehomed in that short amount of time. And they are wrong.

I'm thinking of all of the animals who just wander off and get a little lost, but still have a home and a family looking for them. Imagine not even giving them a full 24 hours to find each other?

I had a couple I knew. They were moving and the place would not let there dog be there. They had looked for weeks for someone to take the dog. It was a week before the move and the mother came home from work, dog was gone. Husband told her that he just dropped the dog off at the shelter. She lost it and told him to go pick up the dog because no one is going to want a 6 year old dog so they would have to put it down. He went back, it hadn't even been an hour and was informed they already put the dog down.

If... IF... you give your furbabies up for adoption, make sure that you go to a no kill shelter.

I don't understand how anyone can work at a place that kills animals daily like that.

I was really scared bringing a stray cat to a shelter because they had a three month window but he was super friendly and adopted within the first week at a showing :)

This happened to a friend with the Hawaii Humane society. She was going through a nasty divorce and her husband took her dog in (that he got her as a present at the same place so it was in his name) saying the dog was violent. Not violent, just scared so he bit someone as they were trying to bring him in. She called immediately after she found out, all within 24 hours, since the society has a policy saying they don’t euthanize until so many hours in the shelter. When she called, they had already put her dog down and the person rushed off the phone, probably knowing they had screwed up. We were out to eat and she just started crying. I still remember her voice cracking when she talked about it feeling like she had let her dog down for not protecting him. I’ve never been so disgusted at her ex and the company that didn’t follow policy.

As someone that has saved multiple cats, this genuinely upsets me

he should sue. if there is a rule in place about 72 hours then they broke it and are liable.

There was this family of cats living in my family’s backyard. Mother cat, father cat, and five kittens (one didn’t make it). My dad was looking everywhere for shelters that would take them and none of them responded until he was finally able to get the attention of one. The first thing I asked was is it a kill shelter and I was so relieved to hear that it wasn’t. They took the four kittens and spayed the mom. Two of them got adopted together and one got adopted alone. There’s one left there that we might adopt if no one else does soon. I can’t imagine how people could do that to innocent animals that only seek love.

At my shelter if you give them an animal you cant give it back so when my mom gave up our cats and we wanted them back we couldnt so we had to have our grandpa go in to adopt them

R.I.P grandpa i love you😢

That’s a lawsuit on their hands. Not to mention, kill shelters are just wrong in general.

I’d rather have them be released into public then that
