I have the 18V version and love it. I have had about 5 different breed multitools over the years from electric to battery. Currently have Makita and Dewalt. The Makita is more refined, less vibration and noise making it easier and more comfortable to use. The Dewalt has a mullet and drinks full strength beer. Vibrates your hand off and noisy.
Don't bother with the Starlock, just can't afford the blades. There is no such thing as a cheap starlock blade. So I run mine converted to OIS blades. These you can buy expensive, medium or cheap. The cheap ones usually fall apart so avoid them. But the mediums do everything I want at a fraction of the price of starlock. The 18V Makita is by far the best multitool I have ever had. Quite chunky yet really nice to use.

Having copyright issues in some regions, so if you hear no music at the beginning, that is why. Trying to rectify the situation.

Nice, but they took so long that I ended up buying the M12 Milwaukee one and I’m really liking the small form factor!

An amazing multi tool and really doesn't bother me with the pin but just today I've had to email makita as my blade locking mechanism has failed for the 6th time in 3 years.

Looking at the part numbers they've changed the crank assembly on the new ones. Likely just for the different motor but hopefully also solving this issue, it would be incredibly hard to judge that without stripping it and comparing. Also the crank assembly parts are separate rather than a single £100 unit to replace now

With the top of the clam off the locking mechanism works fine using an allen key to turn it but the minute the clams shut the lugs that meet and turn the crank from the lever just slip and won't lock the blade in place.

I, for one, am happy they have made the same multitool.

There are plenty who are used to that one (i dont have rhe 18v starlock yet) and, like the reverse case with the dust blower, there is no fear of missing out of the different battery version when they are virtually identical.

The next generation 18v and 40v that clicks in like the newest bosch and fein versions similar to the x lock grinders will likely come out the same time, whenever they do.

I want the 18v Starlock so bad, but its all black in my country whixh im not keen on.

I still have the brushed OIS model for when i have tons of those blades on a jobsite.

No not disappointed! I just needed this one tool to make a full switch. I’m happy with it on 18v, I’ll be happy with it on 40v

One thing I've wondered is how does the vibration when sanding compare to the XGT random orbital sanders you tested?

I’m sure it’s the best of multi tools, I’d rate it on par or better than Fein . I know they are super smooth and quiet, I love all my Makita 40 volt gear but one of my favourite tools is my Milwaukee 12 volt multi tool
It’s just so dam nice to use,
Slim handle, tiny body, a little pocket rocket !
I never use my hitachi 18 volt brushless multi tool, it’s been abandoned for a few years now as it’s too bulky, Makita is even bulkier .
I think I’ll stick with m12 on this one
As you might have worked out, I run a lot of brands, I just love the best brand on offer for each tool.
I don’t have every brand though lol

Nice, now I can buy the last tool I need for renovating my house without buying another battery system or corded.

Now me, can I get an adapter which lets me use the tool corded when I work over h on the same place 😂

1:46 We have two 18v multi onsite and my one has a bigger switch. So there must be a variation in the production.
