Time's up! The GDPR came into full force on May 25th 2018. Here are the answers to 5 burning questions about the EU’s dreaded General Data Protection Regulation.

Is my company affected?
If your organization offers goods or services to EU citizens, no matter where it is located, it is subject to the GDPR. If you fail to comply, you risk fines of up to 20 million euros or 4% of your annual global turnover, whichever is higher.

Which data must be protected?
You must protect all data that can be used to identify a person, including names, ID numbers, financial data, IP addresses, location data and cookies.

What do I need to be doing?
You need to know where all protected data resides and how it is used, and ensure that only eligible users have access to it.

What rights do EU citizens have under the GDPR?
Control and transparency. You have to explain what personal data you require and why, and get explicit consent for collecting and processing it. Anyone can revoke their consent at any time, so you need to be able to find all their data and delete it.
