Maria, you’re my go-to channel for viewing the trends. Most fashion YTers are years behind on them. For example, I saw a video yesterday that said “cold shoulder styles are going out”, but that happened at least 10-15 years ago! It’s almost long ago enough for them to come “back and in”. As a much older woman, I’ve noticed that most trends circle back on an about 20-year cycle. I remember selling a pair of beautiful vintage platform shoes to a youngster that said “cool, 1970s style”, but I had to explain to him that they were actually from the 40s. Nor was that the first time around, either.

I love slightly (not extremely) chunky shoes because they make my ridiculously small feet look less teeter-tottery and my body look more balanced. My head, face and hands are like that, too, I just don’t look right in many accessories, they’re not designed for us who have such tiny frame sizes. My youthful height was pretty good, 5”6”, but everything looked even more out of proportion then, compared to my current 5’4”. I just have very slender, small bones because both of my parents do. I was called “bird bones” as a kid! My school photos show how my face is about a third smaller than other girls my age, bummer, it still is.

What is the best style when transitioning from street style to casual or luxury

It is odd to see so many tall boots and gloves, as well as hoods, for a spring/summer season. I think the pandemic started this with those mask-hoods, etc., so I expect it will fade away eventually. Or at least, I hope it will, but the runway shows never consider practicality at all. It seems like designers had discovered the impact these accessories make, for the first time, and are reluctant to let them go now.
