Jazz is what you're playing. (sad face) Blues is what I love.

I just watched this during lunch, not a piano before me, and it answered so many questions. Really motivated now.

I think this is really good. I think I need to check it out deeper! As a very amateur player who can play rock, jazz. and classical from sheet music I always found blues improv hard.

Thanks Jonny!
I think im ready for advanced? Have other stuff under my fingers. Need practice with chromatic approach notes and emclosures in right hand. In my left hand I need to learn walking bass and drop 2 voicings. Play mostly stride with rootless 3 and 4 note voicings and guide tones

Cool video, Jonny. BTW, I have a theory on where the blues shuffle/boogie rhythm came from.

I like to think of the mixo blues scale as a mix of the major and minor blues scales.

Hi Jonny,

We love your channel...so inspiring.
Just wondering if you might have a version of "Knocks me off my feet" by Stevie Wonder? I have been trained in classical piano and am learning your style for the first time. Any help or direction from you would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.

Very nice! The vocabulary, especially at level 5, is really helpful.

I've always wondered why the 13th isn't called a 6th -- aren't they the same?

Finally, I notice that you don't mention turnarounds. Is that intentional?

I really appreciate this excellent survey of blues piano.

Hello! Question, do you have midi download too for your lessons? I'd love to get the subscription and be easier to write these down for my guitar playing that way haha :D

Both of my hands are in sync. I can't seem to get them to be independant.
