Sagging Car Headliner Fix

Here is how to fix the headliner on your car if it is starting to sag and tear. On old cars, especially old cars made by General Motors, when they get to be about 20 years old, the foam in the headliner breaks down, and the cloth part of the headliner starts sagging and falls down On your head. You have several options when repairing your sagging headliner on your car. The best option is to buy a new one to replace the old saggy one. But if you don’t want to take everything apart or spend a lot of money, you can fix the headliner on the ceiling of your car by gently peeling off all of the cloth, masking the surrounding areas of masking tape, and painting the phone with rest oleum paint. I did this on my Chevrolet Silverado truck, and it worked great. I had to use two coats of paint, but I got it to match the color of the interior, And the paint will hold the form together and keep it from falling apart into dust on my head. Watch this video if you want to fix the headliner on your car yourself. If you have a sagging car headliner, this is an easy and cheap way to fix it. If your car roof is sagging, this will fix it.

This works good. You can also recline seats all the way back and run a sheet of plastic from the back all the way to the front. Scrap off all the foam, depending on how well its still glued you may need a sander. fold plastic up and remove. Hit the whole inside of the car with a leaf blower and blow out any foam particles. Then put two coats of behr deck over paint on the now bare headliner.

I watched your video because I was wondering if someone else had done what I did.. which is just ripping off that stupid lining ... I stripped mine off .. then brushed that stupid insulation and tonight it will be painted MY WAY... I have no idea why they make that shit like that..
thank you for sharing though.

I was debating flex sealing my headliner on my 99 dodge van. Locally it would be 400$ to get headliner fixed and I don't care that much about this vehicle being pristine. Going to try this instead because it'll be cheaper.

I have been thinking of doing this on my 89 olds 88. When you are driving with the windows down the dust from that headliner gets in your eyes and lungs. Not fun stuff.

That's nasty. My '83 Ford headliner came unglued from the underboard so I just used a staple gun to turn it into simulated tuck n roll.

I got same ride and i took those hooks out and the foam fell out so i got a piece of felt and sprayed the foam with adhesive and wrapped that shit, shoved it back in and smoked a doobie faster than you could paint it i bet but you could always do this later if your shit starts peeling or crumbling
