Lyrics for My Chemical Romance's "The Foundations of Decay" - their first single in eight years. As this song only dropped today, it has been hard to locate accurate lyrics for it, so I'll add any corrections to the comments section as they're identified (or I'll just upload a more accurate version later).

My only critic of this song is I wish the vocals were turned up so it was easier to hear without a lyric video. But other then that mcr is making a good comeback.

I’ll never overcome the part where it says “he was there the day the towers fell and so he wandered down the road and we build towers of our own” referring to the 9/11 which Gerard witnessed and pushed him to create the band and then when everyone tried to follow their paths but it was hard. Like if I thought this song was gonna be good, it’s even better than that and higher than my expectations by a lot. Now excuse me while I cry.

I took my daughter to the Raleigh show a couple weeks ago, this was their opening song. I've never heard their music before and I was blown away. I scolded her the next day for not playing ANY songs for me prior to the show. And she knows I love punk and metal. I have been playing this song on repeat

This song stunned me into silence. A new MCR Song!?! And its 6 Minutes of Pure Musical Bliss!?! And the Lyrics ripped my fucking heart out in two seconds flat!?! Holy shit. This has been a rough timeline to live in, but at least we’re in the one where MCR rose from the ashes and brought us this masterpiece.

1) Let our blood IN VAIN
2) unsure - it could be "if your convictions were a passing phase" since this is a closer rhyme and the S sounds similar to "th" even on the next line on "rays" but "faith" sounds more on theme so idk
3) "so we'll press AND PUSH 'til you can't take it any more"
4) Altar (not alter)

There are a few others I'm 50/50 on but I hope an official lyrics gets released soon bc this song is too good and I need to know I am shouting the right words lol

I discovered MCR during really hard times when I was like 10 or 11 and their songs carried me through it all. I'm now 19 tuning on 20, working for the first time ever, facing a lot of new things that really stresses me out, and they're back again. What a great time to be alive.
