Our 2022 Tesla Model Y equipped with factory tow hitch tows our 2006 Malibu V-Ride wakeboard boat. Approx weight of trailer/boat is 4,100 lb.

We tow the boat from dry storage to the lake frequently. Before we purchased the Tesla, it was hard to find information on true towing capability, so I’m posting this as a demonstration. We’ve towed the boat with a Ram 2500 HD and a Silverado Z71 — and the Tesla feels strongest and most capable. Zero slip pulling out of a wet ramp with Tesla AWD and torque distribution, & able to easily accelerate uphill at highway speed. While towing, the Tesla uses approx 3x normal battery power (~750 Wh/mi instead of ~275 Wh/mi).

It’s not about towing it’s about the weight of the car compared to the weight of the boat and trailer. Pulling a 5000 load with no wind is fine, but when the a cross wind picks up and you are going 60mph and need to stop suddenly ….. that’s when you have problems.

how much would you guess i can go in a straight line no hills ( florida) in one way? just a guess in miles, would you think i can go about 150miles total on a full charge?

question: tesla Model Y Tow Package designed to support vertical loads up to 160 lbs (72 kg). almost 100% rv trailer Tongue Weight is over that ? how you handle that ?

@davidy5538 I’m looking at buying a bayliner trophy t20cc combined with weight trailer is about 4200lbs, do you think I’ll be good towing it with my model Y? I’m in California and won’t really be going over hills

This video is idiotic, because it’s well over the rated capacity of the model y, and personally, I think it should be taken down.
