Test data obtained from the assessment
showed adequate protection was given
to the passenger’s lower legs while the
driver received marginal protection to
the chest. Nevertheless, the vehicle’s
frontal occupant compartment remained
stable in the frontal offset test.

The test data obtained from the side
impact test showed the driver received
adequate protection to the head.

ASEAN NCAP is introducing the Autonomous
Emergency Braking (AEB) system functionality
assessment in its new 2021-2025 protocol. In the
protocol, ASEAN NCAP assessed the functionality
and effectiveness of AEB City and AEB
Inter-Urban systems fitted inside the vehicle in
performing emergency braking at several
speeds against another preceeding vehicle. The
VF8 is equipped with both the AEB City and
Inter-Urban systems as standard accross all its
variants. In this assessment, ASEAN NCAP confirms
the technologies have functioned according to
the ASEAN NCAP requirements.

Starting from the 2017-2020 protocol, ASEAN
NCAP had introduced assessment on the
functionality of Blind Spot Technology fitted
inside the assessed vehicle. ASEAN NCAP
continues the assessment under the new
Motorcyclist Safety pillar for the new 2021-2025
protocol. The assessed VF8 is equipped with
Blind Spot Detection (BSD) on both the driver
and passenger sides of the vehicle as a
standard equipment. In this assessment, ASEAN
NCAP confirms the technology has functioned
according to ASEAN NCAP requirements on both
the right and left sides area of the vehicle.

The VF8 is the fifth model under the VinFast brand to be assessed by ASEAN NCAP. This is also the second electric vehicle that ASEAN NCAP tested under the same brand name. The left-hand drive SUV is equipped with 11 airbags as standard which includes a center airbag at the driver’s seat. The model offers standard fitment of Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR) for frontal and rear seats occupants as well as rear seat occupant
detection, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) City, Inter-Urban and Pedestrian across all its variants. Under the Motorcyclist Safety category, the VF8 offers Blind Spot Detection (BSD) for both driver and passenger sides of the vehicle, Auto High Beam (AHB) and Pedestrian Protection technology as standard equipment. Additional standard safety equipment include Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Lane Keep Assist (LKA) that are available as standard. The VF8 made an amazing performance in the assessment with a total score of 89.50 points. With the achieved score the 5-seater SUV is eligible to be awarded with 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating.

This car will possibly do well in the IIHS crash test when they crash test it sometime when it goes into production for US market
