I traveled to Singapore in 2023. English is an official language. But living there is expensive! 😑
On 4 The Philippines. I traveled to and from there for 26+ years. I met many retired American veteran men who served there. Some live there with their (Filipina) wives.

Philippines for me is the best places to live, always hospitality, respectful, laid back relaxing I noticed that when I go home after 49 years living in the US if only my health issues I like to move back home.

You can live comportable even in 300$ monthly in the Philippines.
It's 16, 500 Philippines pesos.
My expenses monthly with my family are 10k pesos only or 190$ 👍😂😅

The video doesn't consider or cover Medical and Healthcare, one of the most important aspect.

Just back from 2 weeks in Cebu Philippines. Any single man has to go there. Shopping malls like shopping in England (but better). 👍

For me, the Philippines is the No. 1 tourist destination and a haven to retire in. The US$1K monthly budget for one person to live decently is in Metro Manila. It is less if expats would live in the paradise provinces where the white sand beaches and the majestic waterfalls are located.

Most Filipinos know how to speak and understand English but those that can speak English fluently are mostly in major cities in the Philippines. Even though many of them can't speak English fluently, you can still understand them and they are willing to look for ways to understand you.

The Philippines has my vote due to the culture, people and so, so many beautiful places. Its hot. The water sometimes is not fit to drink. You may need to live within reach of a good hospital. Live by a breezy beach, drink botted water, and have a good hospital within 1/2 hour. It can be done.

For old retired Americans - English is an easy carefree and comfortable stress free environment. -- The visa laws and expenses often with substantial financial requirements were omitted here ! -- Having researched for more than a year for this very topic - I find the information here quite lacking & misleadingly 'incomplete' !!! -- I will say - the Philippines has many areas where $1000/mo. - or even less for a single thrifty person - can be done. - - - Too many of these countries are not really cheap compared to some others listed here. - - - Much more info is needed and will reveal how expensive some actually are !

My parents migrated from Zurich, Switzerland to Singapore and they're absolutely loving it! It's a highly developed country with a great quality of life, everyone speak English, great medical facilities, great infrastructures, delicious food, they can jet off to neighbouring countries ( Bali in Indonesia, Penang in Malaysia, Chiang Mai in Thailand etc) for just an hour flight.
And they live like a rich people (huge condo, two live-in maids) for a fraction of a middle class life back in Zurich. Singapore is really one of the greatest gem on Earth.

Not everyone wants to retire to a tropical, beach comber lifestyle. There are those of us who enjoy the change of seasons. It's a shocker I know, but we like snow in the winter. We ski, snow board and hike trails. There's nothing like sitting by a fire with your partner and your favorite apres ski adult beverage. I just found your channel, so I will have to look to see if you have already covered it. If not, maybe give this topic a shot? Thanks for a fascinating vlog.
