So mclaren made a good system. other teams tried to emulate it and made it worse and dangerous, so it gets banned instead of teams being told to have it where the driver can use their knee for it. Cool

I think its also important to mention that the air was directed towards the rear wing in a particular manner, since an accellerated flow of air over the rear wing could also generate even more downforce as more air would flow over the surfaces of the wing and push down on the rear of the car. At least to my understanding, it was directed in a way that the air coming out of the duct interfered with the regular airflow over the car, creating a turbulent airflow (or basically "dirty air") just in front of the rear wing, which caused it to stall

I feel like they shouldn't have banned the leg activated F-duct. That was safe. Especially since the suits McLaren made had a little bump by the knee which allowed you to activate the F-duct without taking your foot off of the pedals.

wasnt blocked by their knee, the drivers used their hand to block the small hole in the chassis which js why it was banned because of it being a safety hazard.
