BlackRock Taking Over Bitcoin?

In this video, I discuss BlackRock's supposed plans to take over Bitcoin, by buying up Bitcoin mining companies, buying up lots of BTC, wielding influence over Bitcoin devs, and possibly even attempting to change the 21 million max supply cap.

Fortunately, because Bitcoin runs on a proof of work consensus mechanism, owning more BTC does not give anyone more power over the protocol-- not even BlackRock.

Not investment advice! Consult a financial advisor.

BlackRock owns large stakes in almost every large company:

Large holders of Bitcoin:

not sure if Robert Breedlove coined this himself or heard it somewhere else but i always like the analogy of "you could change the rules of Chess but who would play with you?" (in reference to changing the rules of Bitcoin aka Bitcoin Hard Forks)

Blackrock pushed DEI for a while but got tired of losing money and stopped.

TY Matthew. I jumped in the last Zoom. It was a bit over my head but I stuck around to the end. I’m learning and enjoying the process. Thanks again for all you do to educate us Plebs.

This channel is the best i’ve come across explaining everything about how bitcoin works

You should make a playlist for complete beginners to learn in an order, some family/friends have looked at your channel when I’ve suggested but they say they don’t know where to start

I’ve been worried about this when I found out DCG and Grayscale own Foundry USA and they won 6 blocks in a row. That and that Blockrock owns 7% of Mara. This puts my mind at ease. I appreciate you, Matthew.

Can you do a segment on owning your own node and perhaps how to set a node up and the importance of doing it ?
Thanks 👍🏽

Hey Matt, just wanted to thank you for all of the great advice over the years. Dumped all my ship coins for BTC when it was around $40k and haven’t looked back since. I know you can’t give financial advice, but do you think DCA or buying the dip is a better method to achieve 1BTC?

Right now, the U.S. already controls a pretty big chunk of Bitcoin mining power. So, imagine if they went all-in with unlimited fiat and decided to throw money at the problem to bump that hash rate to 50%+?

Now, here’s where it gets wild: what if, over the past few years, they secretly planted tens of thousands of nodes in the network? They could have a solid majority on both the mining and the nodes side.

Then, boom—new laws come down, and suddenly exchanges and miners are forced to run a new, "official" version of the Bitcoin code that removes the supply cap or makes other huge changes. They could straight-up rewrite the rules.

This is just a theory based on my understanding of the system, and I know it sounds veeeery unrealistic, but I’m really just wondering if something like this could actually be possible, even in theory?

I’m glad someone finally made this video. BR are short the financial performance of the shares via the etf and they hold the actual shares so they are net “neutral”, while taking a fee.
They having voting power over the shares yes, but often they need to vote the way of the index methodology otherwise they will have tracking error.
They can’t just dump all the holdings of a co just because they feel like it

We need a deep dive on nodes for noobies. Most don't understand you need to brodcast your transactions from them for their influence to matter.

Blackrock gains influence and then uses it. This has already been demonstrated. DEI for example. But the main concern is not whether they have a nefarious plan or not, but whether they could effect any plan.

Nice episode Matthew. Good reminder of the power of the nodes, and why all Bitcoiners should run a node to safeguard the network

It's not that hard to make any mainstream community believe something or funnel them into a system that actually makes them want to do something. With enough influence and global reach/cooperation it is very doable. And the average person will allow it to happen. Even the average Bitcoiner.
