Dear homeschool mom, you need a break. For your sanity, for your peace, for your husband, and for your kids. Every 6 weeks of school, we take a week-long break. I have 5 main things that I do during this time of rest and relaxation that help me to prepare for the next 6 weeks of homeschool.

Let's be friends!

Love the #5 tip. We also do if my health allows: more field trips, doc appointments, nature study, messy art, or tea time, house projects, transcript updates, movies/documentary etc.

School parent vs parent parent!! You are spot on with that! Thank you.
Sometimes I feel like I’m getting stuck in a rut and then I tell myself I’m just complaining and I should try harder....but NO! Haha sometimes you really do need a break and so do the kids! So thank you!

What you said about separating being a school parent and a parent parent is so true. I need to be better about that. So often on breaks I find myself not truly relaxing because I'm always in planning mode. I need to be better about taking time to just relax and play with the kids and enjoy that time with them. ❤

We are doing Sabbath School also and LOVE IT. I normally take that week and get caught up on things and do things I normally don't get the chance to do. I also "regroup" our school room with a good cleaning and organize plus plan the next 6 weeks and figure out what worked and what didn't maybe change up our flow or the things we do on a typical day. BUT sleep and doing everything at a relaxed pace makes me feel like I've had a break ☺

Off topic but where is your pretty necklace from?
P.s. I totally agree with year round homeschool. I wish the schools would adopt it too!

Mandy, thank you so much for this idea of 6 weeks on and 1 week off. I have been looking for a schedule to do with my 2 homeschooling and especially because like you I have a chronic sickness in which I have day/days I am unable to homeschool. I would like to know how do you manage on those days you cannot teach the kids (I have a 3rd and 8th grader). I am using Simply Charlotte Mason curriculum, which i think it's similar to MFW. Are they able to do school without you if you're sick? My biggest struggle is History and Science especially with my younger student. Any advice it's greatly appreciate it! Thank you Mandy! Love your channel ❤️. I'll be adding you to my prayers 😊

I have Fibro/cfs as I think I've mentioned, was a teacher 10 years and quit after twins bc I was SOO burned out. I unlike you do NOT have independent kids... Any advice? Mine are 8. I don't have book baskets ( morning basket yes) so we will do that & do that update plz. Maybe a lesson example too?! I also need to premade meals bc my fatigue is horrid by 4... And yes Pizza. So guilty. I sleep so much on the wkends so I got that. This was brilliant btw. Gonna help tons of Mamas. You gotta link that shawl too!!!
