Dugongs, also known as sea cows are relatives of elephants. What fascinates you most about this sea creature?

Same as our Florida Manatees or a different species?

One would think the Dugongs would be related to the manatee...

They’re literally adorable. Long ago we thought they were extinct, but I’m glad they aren’t, and I hope they don’t go so soon for the second time

Dugong is called the sea cow, not the merman (mermaid )🧜🏼‍♂️? "Aboriginal hunters have targeted them for their meat." Is this dugong edible like a whale? I feel a protected animal! I hope the fine relationship existing between people & dugongs will continue for many years to come 🐄🐘🧜🏼‍♂️🤔

I feel like it isn't really the aborigines that is the biggest reason for the decline in dugongs.
The slow reproducing rate and getting caught in nets must be the biggest threats.

I thought they were extinct. And I also thought the Great Barrier Reef died. I am so pleased both are alive and well

When I first heard about sea cows or manatees or dugongs, I thought they were relatives of seals🤔🤔
Then thought they are relatives of cows😅😅
Then came to know that they are related to Elephants😂😂
