I was surprised that there was no comment about the spindle roughing gouge only being used on spindle turning because it can be very dangerous to use it on faceplate/bowl turning as a catch could break the tool as the tang is much weaker than on a bowl gouge . Also the grinder should not be used on the sides of the wheel as this can cause the wheel to shatter . Also don't have dust or shavings near the grinder as sparks can cause smouldering , which is difficult to put out .
