Toast Skagen 🇸🇪
Swedish shrimp toast, my way!
Classic appetizer from the Swedish kitchen. The original are made with mayonnaise, sour cream, salt&pepper, dill and dijonmustard. And the bread will sauté in butter.
The toast Skagen in this version is adding a little bit of extra ingredients. My family like to use Japanese mayonnaise (Kewpie Mayo) as it give a much better taste than normal mayonnaise. For the bread I like to toast them in the toaster as it gets less oily.
Skagen can be served on a verity of bread (full grain, wheat, rye) and in many shapes( circle, square, triangle )
If you can not find Swedish cooked shrimp. The normal cooked shrimp will also do.
Ingredients: ( for 4 portions)
120g Shrimp
60g Japanese baby Mayo
40g Sour cream
1 tsp Dijon mustard
20g Red onion (fine chopped)
1/4 tsp Salt
10g Dill (fine chopped)
A pinch of black pepper
1 tsp Rom
4 slices of Bread
Butter
For garnish:
Fine chopped red onion
Black pepper
Rom
Dill
A slice of lemon
How to make:
1. Mix mayonnaise, sour cream, dijonmustard, salt, black pepper together.
2. Add chopped red onion, dill, shrimps and rom mix it well.
3. Toast the bread and wait a few minutes for them to cool down a bit
4. Spread butter on the toast
5. Plating Skagen mix on the toast and garnish.
