Staghorn Fern Propagation

Platycerium superbum is a lovely Staghorn Fern native to the northern portion of Australia as well as Platycerium bifurcatum which we call Elkhorns.
Elkhorns will throw pups, but Staghorns do not, so to propagate Staghorns, you need to collect spores from the underside of fertile fronds. Mix it with sterile sand and sprinkle over sterile potting mix and if all the conditions are right, you'll have little ferns growing in a month or 2.
Good luck !

these staghorns are huge look good on these mounts! I love it! All your mounts look esthetically pleasing, both on drift wood and on rocks. I really like them) p.s. how much light do they need? I have a smaller one and maybe I do not give him enough light ... Because he looks a little sad.

Very interesting. I just noticed the scars on your head. What's the story if I'm not being to bold to ask?
