Just found out my female dropped a spur. We don't know how it happened, though we think she got it caught on a part of her hide? We were kind of worried so we Googled it. Your video was the top recomendation. Glad to know she is going to be perfectly fine and that it will likely regrow over time.

Cool video Benjamin, haven't seen too many videos if any on spurs. I recently picked up a male leopard double het clown/pied that had 3 spurs and one of them was actually growing out of his vent. It dropped off a week after I got him set up in him permanent tub but I thought that was pretty weird.

What happens, if you just rip it off yourself? Will it hurt the snake?

Do other snakes have spurs? At what age do hatchlings grow them? Can they be broken when popping the hemipenes or checking the sex?

I just noticed these on my snake the other day. Never noticed them before. Do they grow them at a certain time? Sorry if you mentioned it and I missed it.

Good video, but the ppurs aren't actually bony things, they are remnants of legs. The tips are practically fingernails.

I think Spurs to a snake are like whiskers to a cat
