Many people in their 20s and even 30s think, “I’m young! I have plenty of time to start saving for retirement.” But retirement age can creep up quickly. The trick to being weathy in retirement is, keep your expenses low, don't buy things to impress people you don't know, then clear ALL Consumer debts then work with your mortgage providing that your interest rate is below 10% that way you don't need to pay that off early, then most important, invest your $!. I'm saving / investing over 60% of my income now, this has not always been the case but I am tired of my corporate job that's mentally draining me so, once I hit my FIRE #I'm out. My husband and I are aiming for retirement in less than 10 years from now. I hope people are getting wiser and not just think Abt retirement at 60/65, it can be done at 30/40 and in my case 45-50.

Very informative because lots of people got absolutely no idea how important it is to save for their retirement. I am 51 and get rid of my working shoes and uniforms a year ago because I dont need to work anymore.
I traded in work for travelling. You just have to be smart enough to invest in something that will yield you a good return and spend it wisely. I invested in properties over the years, starting with only a two bedroom apartment and from there it allows me to be financially free at an early age to retire.

wouldn't it be better to buy a specific stock rather than placing money in a pension fund. being that some stocks pay higher dividends?

Are you saying that I can stop contributions to the private pension, let the money stay there, contribute to the company/government pension only then go back for my "private" money at retirement?

I think ppl under 40 should scrap the idea of retirement. There r jobs now that a 70 yo can do. Aim for financial freedom but even stop working.
