1990s Things Found In Every Home!

The 1990s had some styles that were unique to the decade but some of them have continued to hang on. Technology was starting to move faster and we all wanted to try some new things. In this video we will take a tour and see 1990s things found in every home.

The dial up internet was the sound of the 90s for me. The Microsoft Encarta program served as an interactive encyclopedia and it was certainly popular in our household. Who could forget that tall tower of DVDs almost halfway to the ceiling next to the TV and speaker.

The 90's was MY decade. I turned 18 in 1992 and started my adult life. Several things you mentioned are still in my house.

Boy, you really captured this era! And I know from following you that you are a 70s and 80s child and you did the 90s justice. The sentimentality and flairs of that period. I would hug you if I knew you!

LOL! I forgot about sponge painted walls! I did the stenciling thing! I remember spending hours at my church stenciling teddy bears and balloons around the center of the wall in the nursery!

LOL! You dusted the fake plants by shaking them hard and then putting the leaves back on!

Ha! My parent’s house was built in 1998, and it’s still pretty much a laundry list of most of these things; honey oak kitchen cabinets, patterned border in the bedroom, white kitchen appliances, recessed lighting, a big entertainment center, brass doorknobs and fixtures, etc. I guess I never thought about how little it’s been updated. But I suppose my home is largely stuck in the era around 2007-2010 too.

I turned 40 this year and I am starting to feel old, but at the same time I feel blessed to have grown up in the awesome decade that was the 90’s 😎

It was nothing like sitting our front stoop, talking on our cordless phone! We were one of the first on our block to get one so it was a joy to see the looks on people's faces as they walked by!😂

- *69 was new (phone)
- colored jeans (the Gap)
- Grunge bands (I live in Seattle)
- Grunge look (plaids, jeans, etc)
- Roller blades
(I know some these things are outside the home activities, but I included them anyway)

Our house in the 80's was full of gaudy, pastel colors, but when we moved in the 90's mom painted everything beige, and I'd gotten so used to the colors that I always hated it. At least we kept all of our wood furniture; I still have the VHS case that my grandpa made himself.

Don't forget about "Southwestern" decor in the early 90s with pinks and turquoise everywhere! Haha! I think my mom knew that Gomer Pyle landlady that was describing the apartment to him with "...A nice new paint job of beige as well as new curtains, also beige...! Do you like beige? I like it because the dirt don't show...!"

I remember using AOL vividly. We used it will into the early 2000s. My mom and I still use our AOL email addresses as our primary email.

I remember getting my huge Kenwood stereo system for Christmas in the mid 90s with the glass window on the front and the big free standing speakers. The bass was amazing.

The nineties were great .. I was 19 years old in 1990. I was still very much into heavy metal music but I did like some of the grunge stuff coming out of Seattle. It was a good time to be a young adult..
