Project Coldfeet was a top secret mission from the CIA to retrieve intel from an abandoned research station from the Soviet Union. A pressure ridge had destroyed the station's runway, rendering it impossible to reach. But impossible isn't in the CIA's vocabulary.

I believe this incident became the basis for the spy thriller book and movie "Ice Station Zebra" in 1968, starring Rock Hudson & Ernest Borgnine.

Put yourself in the place of the station's management, and you will understand that for disclosing information that could get to the enemy, you face life imprisonment in a GULAG. Did the documents allegedly found by the CIA agents have no place during the evacuation of the station?
