What backpacking camping hiking cook set or cook system should I get or buy. Best budget ultralight cooking system for the backcountry. Budget titanium pot for cooking. Best backpacking stove. Most ultralight cook set for camping.

Over the years, I have more or less finalized my cooking system to a 1100ml TOAKS Ti pot with a "mid-size" Campingmoon XD stove. The 1100 ml size allows me to throw in a full pack of instant noodle without breaking it, my favorite treat during backpacking, and the Campingmoon stove works a loooot better at high elevations than BRS. Anyway, these are all, including BRS, Chinese companies and great products from China, i.e., low price - LOL!

Waypoint survival has 25 hacks for the Stanley 2 cup cook set. You can nest stainless steel mugs, fuel cans, stoves and all kinds of things. We have one in each of our vehicles in our emergency kits.

I just use a JetBoil. Works like a champ. if I were going UL, then the Toaks+BRS would be a great combo.

Love my Stanley one. Goes camping and on wildfire assignments. Mostly for coffee and dehydrated meals works perfectly

I have the Toaks 550 and 650 in the 95mm diameter. Including their lids the 550ml is 67.1g and the 650ml 72.3g, so the 18% added volume is 8% more weight. So if volume is not as critical then arguably the bigger pot is more flexible, you can put stuff within the pot (e.g. towel to also reduce rattling and dry pot).

If you were looking at 2-pot system, such as to drink+eat then plenty of other good options, the smallest being the Toaks 550ml 103mm diameter fits outside the Toaks 550 or 650. The next size up is the Toaks 900 115mm can fit the 550 90mm or the 550 103ml within, or even the 650 90mm within if you ditch it's lid.

I’ve had a BRS stove for many years, and that same Stanley pot that perfectly fits a fuel canister, the BRS and my lighter. Love that setup, though this past year I switched the Stanley out for a lighter and slightly wider GSI 750ml pot.

I've been using one of those Stanley pots with my pocket rocket since 2012, love it!

Dan,
I've been rocking that 550 setup for a while now! I added in a p52 can opener to the kit to make it complete! Ty for the practical suggestions

I like the Vargo Bot series because the lids screw on and keeps the whole kitchen contained. (lid also functions as a cup) Fuel, stove, lighter, cloth, and foil all fit in their 700ml version.

I just use good old fashioned square mess tins . I get my folding stoves and alcohol burners in there with a opinel and cutlery, washing up liquid pot spunge everything .

All you can do with these little round pots is make tea. You can't fry steak or bacon and sausage for breakfast or anything.

I love my Toaks cook set too. Pro tip: put the stove and lighter in first then the gas canister. The bottom of the gas can is concave and give more room than putting things on the convex top. It has allowed me to throw the cleaning towel in there too.

I have the 750ml toaks pot and it’s been the most reliable for years!!

The Toaks 500 will fit a small Optimus canister and the foldable Optimus Crux. So you can have power and light-weight.

My favorite lightweight kit is still the SnowPeak Solo set. Will fit a small canister and Gigapower stove. Or 2 small canister. And is has the pot/cup combo that just works.

Stanley pot and BRS3000T for the win. Almost as indestructible as a Trangia setup but not quite as heavy.

I’m glad someone showed this trick. I accidentally found this several years ago and I felt like I broke the system rules. 😮

Yes, Toaks 750, but with the bail handle. Makes a great stove and fire pot then.
