In this video I cover how to solve an inverse variation word problem. The sample problem solves a constant of speed proportionality. A constant of proportionality is a number that relates two directly proportional quantities. It is the ratio of the change in one quantity to the change in the other quantity. For example, if y is directly proportional to x, then there is a constant of proportionality k such that y = kx. The constant of proportionality can be found by dividing one quantity by the other. For example, if y = 2x, then the constant of proportionality is 2.
