GotBot Counts Down: The Top 10 Most Overrated Transformers Characters

This time GotBot counts down the top 10 most overrated Transformers characters. There characters always get the spotlight or have a reputation that is more legendary then they are themselves. Hundreds of votes rolled in across social media for everyone from Optimus and Megatron, to Cyclonus and Predaking, to Waspinator and Starscream. While number one may be a foregone conclusion, numbers two through ten offer a few surprises along the way. Check out the full list and see where your favorites fell!

About Starscream:
The reason Megatron keeps him around is his utility, yes, he is treacherous and a liability but he is extremely dangerous and even more useful when told what to do as a soldier. He is not fit for leadership positions but his ego will always make him see it otherwise. He has talent for flight and combat but that´s about it, his ego makes him go off the rails constantly as an underling.
Starscream is supposed to be an ace pilot, one of the best and fastest ever ( this is really expanded upon in Beast Wars "Posession" when he controls Waspinator´s body )
His cruel, oportunistic and vicious nature makes him the best at aerial raids, sneak attacks or hit and run tactics. The Null rays are the cherry on top. He likes to maim, mock you and salt the earth.
You can also take into account the "Megatron keeps him close to remind him of never letting his guard down" often used in many continuities.
It's like keeping a crazy agressive king cobra in your house, just in case you need to kill or scare the shit out of someone. It´s insane, gives a lot of trouble and it's risky...but it is, after all, very fucking dangerous too if you throw it at your enemies. You just have to accept you can never fully tame the pissed off king cobra, so don´t sleep on the job.

Awww, I call foul for those who voted both Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime together.
I voted specifically for Rodimus Prime being overrated, himself, because of his terrible leadership style in comparison to both Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus's leadership skills.
That all said, I love Hot Rod a lot! His overall snarky, yet cavalier attitude and his gorgeous alt mode. Poor Hot Rod getting lumped in with Rodimus, lol. =P

10:30 just use Megatron's badass line from Animated: "You thought you could lead the Decepticons...You couldn't lead a parade." Animated Megatron is undoubtedly one of the best incarnations out there.

I'm new to the transformers fanbase, so I'm a little surprised Starscream was on the list. But after you explained it, I kind if get it, but it still makes me a little sad. Of the most often recurring characters, he's the only one I'm happy to see each and every time.
I'm happy Bumblebee was number one. He deserves it. Cyberverse is what got me into transformers, and it feels like after the first season, there were so many more interesting characters, but it focuses on bumblebee so much more than most of the others. Especially in the third season, where we get my personal favorite cyberverse storyline, and instead of focusing on the more characters featured there, it's RIGHT back to bumblebee.
I think rodimus deserves his place too. Not nessecarily hot rod, if that makes sense. Though i couldn't think the list would make much sense without counting him as one in the same. He's definitely one of my favorites in cyberverse, and I think it has the best version of him in a leadership position. Being only temporary, and having a co-leader in Soundwave. It was an enjoyable dynamic.

I expected who number 1 was because that was literally the entire comment section lol, but 2-10 (except 6) I was very very surprised. I am surprised that even Soundwave made it to this list, one of the most favorite/loved Decepticon, Starscream (who is my favorite Decepticon), Optimus Prime and Megatron. Literally the most iconic characters in the Transformers franchise are on this list. I voted for Ironhide because he really didn’t produce much, all he ever did was talk 💩 about the Decepticons and got himself almost killed in that one episode where Bluestreak had to save his 🍑 lol, for not following orders. I enjoyed the list, surprised, but I enjoyed it. Good top 10 video 👍🏽.

I like to think megatron kept starscream around because of the fact of Megatron saying to Starscream in a G1 maybe second or first episode that stars will die and be born before he is finished destroying/killing him 😂 might be the dinobot episode after megatron gets hit and his equilibrium is disrupted, Starscream then says to the Decepticons to follow him. Megs may have said it after that, maybe. Memories lil off with that 😃👍

G1 bumblebee wasn't as big a character to my surprise for some reason kids love bumblebee for adults bumblebee has been overdone. Overall it all comes down to Transformers suffering more then any other franchise from very bad writing which is likely a result for it being a toy first and all other media is there to support the sale of toys. So many reboots....

LOL some people just dont know how to separate personal feelings and/or dont know the difference between overexposed and overrated for these types of lists. It happens with music all the time, you hear a great song so many times that it gets to the point you cant stand any time it's played, but that doesnt remove the greatness from it.
I can agree with Ironhide, Soundwave and Devastator, but the rest of the list is pure "im tired of" characters or personal vendetta's as is the case for HotRod/Rodimus. I havent checked your underrated video yet but Rodimus deserves to be #1.

Bumblebee is a case of lovable character, who by and large was just there to be the kid appeal character in the G1 show, but what the movies did was transform him, pardon the pun, into a badass, that rightfully belonged, and was taken from, Hot Rod. Taken in the sense of, that should have been HR in the movies. Had Bay had any vision for his movies he couldve set up the entire arc to establish Hot Rod (Bumblebee) and had him take over for Optimus either in Age of Extinction of Last Knight, but ofcourse you cant remove the moneymaker, which is why Optimus WILL ALWAYS be front and center in ANY media. That's being overexposed, not overrated, but for OP and Meg's they've earned the right to be the faces of the franchise, and that is why you cant get rid of them.

I actually really liked TFP bumblebee (probably because TFP was my introduction to transformers) and his arc, Especially the finale.

I really didn't like Grimlock. There was that one episode where he was really smart. he was the guy who made the Autobot Combiner, Computron. I just found his character really one sided and boring.
