Westchester County Recycling on a Giant Scale & Reducing our Waste

Westchester County is a leading county in NY State which in itself is a leader in the country for recycling and minimizing waste. But of course, we do want to move as close to zero waste as possible and to really do that we need to get the manufacturers and producers of the materials, packaging, products, etc., to be held accountable. There is legislation being debated in Albany that needs to be passed that is called the Extended Producer Responsibility Act, without that it will be extremely difficult to get close to zero waste.

Tell me more about food waste recycling. Are the food scraps which I take to local DPW yard still trucked to Duchess County or are they composted right here in Westchester County?

Scarsdale has curbside compost pickup- could this be done in White Plains as well?
