Last night China launched a new crewed spacecraft design using their Long March 5 rocket, this test flight will take it up to high orbit and then test s high velocity reentry. It's anticipated that this design will ultimately carry Chinese astronauts to the moon in the 2030's but for now this is a rare test of hardware under the harsh reentry conditions expected from Lunar return.

The Long March 5B variant which was used for this mission doesn't use the L-29 (H5-2) hydrolox upper stage. It is only the sngle L-165 core with the four L-143 LM-7 derived boosters.

As a Chinese, an aerospace enthusiast and a former member of UMN rocket team, I have to say we are not even close to the word “space race”, it’s more like a new born big country finally starts to chasing the stars. And I believe the teamwork is more important than the simplicity racing in the future, and I and I believe most of us are willing to see the man in the moon again during our lifetime whatever the nation is.

1:35 The rocket launched today is the CZ-5B variety designed for LEO which unlike the previous three CZ-5 rockets (designed for GTO), it does not have a second stage but has longer fairings compensating for larger payloads.

As a Chinese, and a space enthusiast. Nice to see you starting to cover more on some of the Chinese space stuff. I lost it when you tried to say the name. LOL. Just a side note, "x" is no "gz". In chinese "xin" is pronounced as "shin", like the shin ramen. Also Chinese people gave the long march 5 rocket a nick name as the fat-5, well because it's fat and powerful...

The "Flexible Inflatable Cargo Return Module Test Module" sounds like the name of a product on Wish or Aliexpress lol

That footage of the Chinese launch really makes me appreciate American camera tracking.

5:05 Orion is almost 35 tons, but this includes the launch abort tower. In orbital configuration, Orion is 25.9 tons.

The plan is by 2022, China will have a 100ton space station, not as big as ISS, but still. 3 men will be stationed. Yesterday's launch was just the first of 12 launches to build the space station in the next 2 years.

I'm a SpaceX fan, but that's a cool-looking rocket alright.

It almost seems like the world has gotten sick of the Soyuz launcher.

Why is everyone saying the things about virus in the comment section instead of talking about the mission itself and the future development, is the mission really related to virus or just some dumb people trying to blame China and Asia because of their hostility???

In practice China is also banned from participating in the ISS (due to export-regulations)

I fully appreciate your efforts to try to figure out mandarin pronunciation eventhough you quite butchered it.😅
