I play in a metal band and actually use the blue channel. I use the built in boost on the amp. I have an OD pedal and think the amp sounds just as good w/out it. I run the blue channel gain know on 2:00. To get the same amount of gain on the red channel, I run the gain on 11:00. What I found recently was the blue sounds fuller than the red channel when you step about 10 feet away from the amp. Standing up close to the amp, I can make them sound the same. But its definitely different when you step back. Amazing amp! I won't sell mine

This is one of those tones that sounds (and feels!) AWESOME on it's own...like if you were the only guitarist in a band or if you only tracked one guitar ala Van Halen. But in a mix of layered guitars? You'd almost never use this much saturation--it'd turn to straight mush.

Had one of these for a bit... Just couldn't get a sound I was happy with... Did a lot, plenty of ways to tweak it but couldn't find a saturated sound I dug... Maybe I will try one again sometime?

Blake, how well or close do these xtc's do the Marshally kerrang upper mid type thing? Seeing as how they're supposedly lower mid eq'd...90% maybe? I have no idea...
