If this had been written by Jim Morrison or performed by The Beatles it would be regarded as one of the great songs of all time and played daily nightly on classic rock stations (pun intended). But since it's The Monkees, it's relegated to second class & never gets any air play. Ridiculous. Put these guys in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame already.

This has to be one of the best representations of psychedelic rock... It's hard to believe that this didn't make a bigger impact back in the sixties... Micky Dolenz is one of the great vocalists of all time... I hope he gets into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame while he still is here to accept it...

Many folks don't realize once the Monkees got out from under recording songs written by Boyce/Hart they got into doing songs current for the times, like Star Collector, Daily Nightly, & the Porpoise Song, all of which are VERY Beatlesque in terms of avant garde approaches to recording music. Michael Nesmith is one very talented songwriter & this song alone proves it!!

This song is pure genius especially with Mickey singing lead. Should have made it to number one on the US charts, a rock and roll classic along with the Moog. But during this time the Monkees were still being attacked by the stupid critics who did not know anything@

One of Mike Nesmith's best compositions, one of Mickey Dolens' best vocal deliveries and Moog augmentations, the very birth of the music video, all added up to one of the most awesome songs that never got it's proper shot. I will always love this song! Mostly because no one else ever did!

One of the first songs if not the first to use a Moog synthesizer. While the Monkees didn’t write most of their own songs, they and their songs were fairly cutting edge, had their own sound and were a good counterpart to the Beatles at the time. Bottomline is that the 1960’s was an incredible time for the absolute BEST music of all styles and of all time!
