New results from NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) spacecraft describe a Moon bombarded by two different populations of asteroids or comets in its youth, and a lunar surface more complex than previously thought.

@FIGHTFANNERD3 Well, it isn't about that we can't see them from Earth. The LRO orbits the moon for closer, higher quality shots in great detail from many different types of cameras.
Think of it like studying a grasshopper from a distance and using the LRO as a close up magnifying device.

Does the hue of the crater reflect it's age? Or is it about composition?
