Jackie McNamara joins Hamish and John to look back at Celtic's horror 2-0 home loss to Rangers at the weekend.

Just why were we so bad? And how do we put it right?

Jackie feels very strongly about the issue - and shows just why on this lengthy video.

If Jackie is seriously sitting there saying rangers are not a good team then he needs to wake up

Not a good side Jackie says. Yet they have played Celtic off the park in the last 3/4 games?

Rangers are very very vulnerable stop thinking about last season we have only conceded 4 goals all season and have had 9 clean sheets . Offside goal won u the cup final . Your lot just couldnt put up with our players . Man for man we own this game

Couldn't agree more with his comments on Griffiths. The guy is a disgrace for turning up out of shape, leaving us (not for the first time) without a fit first choice striker. Yet he gets an easy ride from the fanbase. After all the club has done for him his attitude is miles off it.
We need to start getting it right soon, Lennon has had plenty time to get things right. Winning the league cup and being awarded the league has papered over the cracks of Cluj, Copenhagen, Ferencvaros and the last 3 derbies. We're not winning big games when it matters. Is he really as tactically inept as it seems or are we going to see a huge turnaround? He needs to start getting it right soon or he's going to be out the door.

As a York City fan it was interesting to hear Jackie's critique of Rangers- he could have been talking about the way York played under his tenure! "They're not a good side" he said repeatedly - but at least Rangers are top!

Celtic fan here. Rangers are a much better team this season. I'm afraid to say that Celtic have been gradually slipping be hine for 2-2 seasons.. Gerrard has done a good job. Lennon has to wake up.

I've said all season 352 gives us no width

And any width we get is too deep (ie crosses from 30 yards out)

Tommy Burns said the 2nd best tactic in football is a cross from the byline

The best was a cut back from the byline then a cross to turn the defenders

352 gives us too deep width and no quantity. No overlapping width.

We just dont do it. I said it during the St Johnstone game then finally Ajer has ElHamed overlapping and a cross from near the byline and a goal from Griffiths.

Jackie and Simon Donnelly were ideal at getting to the byline and crossing or cutting back to cross.

Frimpong at right back and overlapping would have more success.

Either 4 4 2 with 2 wide midfielders would give us 2 wide in each flank or even 4231 would as well.

Width is the key.

However changing tactics that aren't working is also a key dynamic and we dont seem to do it

We should show this crap before every game we play, what a team talk that should be.

How can u say rangers ain't a good team

Two daft comments just sum Jackie right up: Rangers aren't a good team and they are vulnerable at the have the best defensive record and they have played Celtic off the park the last 3 meetings...thats why you're on YouTube and not TV Jackie.

Can’t argue with any of that. If players aren’t fit now, why is that? So many players look off the pace this season, I think it all comes from leadership and standards. Standards are definitely slipping and have done since BR left.
I didn’t see much of NL on the touch line on Saturday while Beale and Gerrard were on the touch line at 80mins giving instructions. The senior players Brown, McGregor, Forrest are going to have to raise the standards for the players day in day out.

As an ex pro myself I said after watching Rangers this season that they had to line up with a 4-5-1 formation to combat the way Rangers play, it was obvious the middle 5 has t have 1 that push up and support the front man at all times. In my opinion Lennon is not good enough and needs to go before the gap becomes to big to catch up.As Jackie said these players should be fit at this time, they need to have double sessions of stamina and sprint training

And just another thing... Barcelona this season alone already have fielded 5 players under the age of 18. One of whom has started all but 1 of their league matches so far.
Buyer Leverkusen have fielded the same in important matches. Borussia Dortmund have fielded 4 with 1 starting a few important league matches. Same goes for Real Madrid, Valencia, athletics madrid, Juventus, inter, Rennes, Paris St-Germain, Monaco, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester untd, Spurs, Everton, Aston Villa. All at times heavily involved and given responsibility in important matches. All of the clubs I have mentioned and most of those I haven’t have vast transfer budgets compared to us and also play their football in much higher quality of standard of leagues against world class players week in week out. Yet age dosnt stop these teams and their managers fielding inexperienced, un tested young talents and putting as much demand and responsibilities on them as the older more seasoned pros.
We are shelling out considerable wages and hefty fees to loan players such as Elyounoussi. Even tho I believe we could have got Patrick Roberts on a permanent this time round for around the 5/6 million mark. I know wer I would have atleast tried to invest our money first and made young Roberts decide. But anyway....I get the Elyounoussi loan as he showed enough last year to say that given a rite good run of games and at peak fitness ect he could be very influential and effective. So I’m by no means berating that move, even tho he has yet to find consistency at a high level to warrant his costs. Anyway... with Forrest out injured and mikey Johnstone looking no closer to making the bench never mind the starting 11 on a regular basis, and with shved shipped out on loan once more, Hayes released for nothing despite hardly putting a foot wrong in any of the number of positions he was asked to play, Sinclair sold for next to nothing we have yet to meaningfully field karamoko Dembele. Keep in mind he has been registered in our European squad and has been on the bench for 2 league games. He played during pre season and looked great at times. Of course it will take the boy time to fit in and pick up on certain demands of him in the first team ect. But here is a 17 year old who is now playing in the England under 19 and under 21 international teams. And with the under 17s and 19s making a real impression.
Not many are aware that karamoko was subject to 3 loan bids during that window. Not the 1 tht was reported. 1 was in Scotland, 1 down south and 1 in France. All where turned down. Many also arnt aware that he only has 1 year left on his contract and will be free to sign a pre contract agreement elswer come January 1st. He will see exactly what I’m seeing in regards to many teams putting faith in players of his age or younger, in much more competitive leagues. Yet he remains barely able to make our bench at times. Despite training full time with our first team for over 8 months now. He still isn’t seen as a first team member. Why isn’t he getting his chance with no other options in front of him. He offers pace, trickery, innovation, imagination, drive, pure attacking intent, intelligence, darting through runs on and off the ball, ability to cut inside or go down the line and cause havok, ability to draw defenders and create space, a great out ball, width, he’s clearly got goals in his game, he can hit a free kick, corners. He can play on either side or just off or through the centre or as a pair. He offers constant commitment and energy and pressure on the opponents defensive line. If he doesn’t play he will leave. It’s that simple. That’s why he hasn’t committed to a new contract. How many more years will he have to wait. The answer is simple. Not another single one. He will take his pick of teams who want him and go play first team football elswer. It’s a certainty. Makes no sense atol.

Would most Celtic fans say being cut at 9 in a row is great, but getting 10 in a row is greater or getting 10 in a row is amazing, but being stopped at 9 is a disaster so much so that some Celtic fans might even say if I had of known beforehand that Rangers was going deny us 10 in a row I would have much preferred for us to have been stopped at 4 in a row, rather than at 9 last minute .com

You were a decent player Jackie but you need to take your green tinted specs off as a pundit.
