My father in law had a bait shop and made his own lures. He said most lures attract the fisherman not the fish.

I have a few crazy ones i just got. Crayfish, bait fish and the snake. Mostly for fun but even if I don't catch anything with them they make a great conversation piece 🤣. Ive seen people catch fish with a hook and peice of debris so i don't think it really matters.

I love line through fishing lures. It allows you to fight the fish on a free line and the lure moves out of the way. Sometime a lure can prevent you from getting a good hook set.

I bought the bat lure a few years ago just because, haven't fished with it much but it's cool as hell

My uncle used to hook barn mice thru the skin in their back, push them out on a little piece of wood, pull them off, let them flail, and catch big ol bass.
Growing up near the canals of Oswego lake you’d hear a big splash then a momma duck freaking out leading the ducklings that were left out of the water.

I have 6 of the bats, small, medium, and large in gray and brown. Thought it was sort of a stretch idea until i literally saw a bat accidentally hit the water and try to swim out. I like bats so i saved him but realized how common bats miscalculating and hitting the water probably is. Snakes and baby ducks are also super common to see around my lake swimming so its almost guaranteed to work you just have to cast over the slaunchy bass big enough to eat it. They are definitely not a confidence lure but if you get bit on them its gonna be a tank.

my great great uncle never wanted to do anything but lay around on the riverbank and fish, and people said he would never amount to anything. out of 13 kids, he was actually the only one to amount to anything after he invented the Bomber Lure.
