“Extra” Special Correspondent Teddi Mellencamp spoke with her famous rocker dad John Mellencamp, who just turned 70!

Along with opening up about turning 70, John shared his take on dating. He said, “I don’t care what anybody does. I don’t care how much money the person’s got. Is she a nice person? Is she funny? Can she stand John Mellencamp?”

John also wasn’t afraid to open up on his regrets in life, like “Not being mature enough to stay married to Elaine Irwin.” He added, “I don’t know how you can live 70 years without having regrets.”

What’s amazing is that his father is still alive while John is 70. Bless them both.

Being the right age to have heard all his stuff all my life, I can say its not my niche, I would say, having worked an arena in the late 80s in concessions, his was the best concert I'd ever seen put on. Over 3 hours, all of it high energy. I became sort of a closet fan.

If I could pick 5 individuals to spend an evening...supper...cigars and a few drinks...pick a brain on life? One on those great individuals would be...John Mellencamp.
He is a man's man...a true to heart human being that believes what he chooses, with no concerns as to, whether or not, others accept those beliefs...yet, a respectful, gentleman.
An American Classic!
Thanks for the music and your inspiration, JM!

John is the BEST! What else can you say. Only wish he could stop the cigarette addiction.

John Mellencamp is the true voice of the working class. Ultimate Americana. He was one of the first musicians I was exposed to at a young age and have been rocking with him for my short 25 years on Earth.

I’m not a huge fan of his demeanor, but I enjoy hearing a famous person admit to having regrets. Whenever I hear someone say they have “no regrets” in life, it makes me think they have their head in the sand or they are willfully lying to themselves. Props to him for that one.

70 ? I’ll never look like that at 70, I’m twenty years younger and barely in that condition. I’d like to know what his diet is.
