For people who don’t know, the short version is the the “thousand yard stare” is a term used to describe a defense mechanism that the brain uses after experiencing a certain amount of trauma. Basically you display no emotion and it gained the name “thousand yard stare” because of the eyes looking dead as if they where staring at something 1000 miles away.

Edit: I know I made spelling mistakes and to be completely honest, I don’t intend to fix them 👍🏽

Gore, dead bodies, deafening screaming, gunshots and explosions. Harsh training, muddy feilds and trenches, terrifyingly massive tanks or hordes of soldiers that'd make you freeze in fear, name it, he's seen it. Respect for him.

I’d just like to clarify that the 1st guy is not the same guy as the second, the 2 man has seen stuff we should never see in our life

For those people who dont understand:
The 1000 yard stare is some soldiers that they witnessed a terrible scene in front of them they saw blood, gore, and something else that we dont want to see and they keep remembering it. Even if the war is finished their brain shut down and they kept remembering soldiers being shot, getting trowned by bombs they keep remembering it its like they are repeating it in their mind and respect for that soldier🫡

The thousand-yard stare (also referred to as two-thousand-yard stare, combat shock, or shell shock) is a phrase often used to describe the blank, unfocused gaze of combatants who have become emotionally detached from the traumatizing things around them. It is sometimes used more generally to describe the look of dissociation among victims of other types of trauma.
