Brandee Younger is seriously one of my favorite harpists of all time, so happy you were able to talk with her. Her work on Resavoir's album was absolutely beautiful!

Also check out Dorothy Ashby. She's featured on Stevie Wonder's song " Is it Magic".

I wouldn’t have ever considered jazz on a harp! That’s sick!!!

There was a BBC series called Destination Music many years ago; a great Jazz Harp episode was there. One of my favourite tv shows.
Btw, the whole Harp culture is largely underrated..

I've seen Brandee in Newport and just saw Edmar in Carnegie Hall yesterday, but my favorite jazz harpist is Park Stickney!

I want a chromatic harp, but I won’t deny the abilities of pitch shifters in combination with Moore’s law.

We’re gonna get jazz harp soon and I will be very jealous of the people who can play it.

Brandee Younger is super cool. I love her musical creativity. My daughter is learning harp, and when I first started to research different kinds of harps, I found some videos on youtube that Brandee made about getting started as a harpist. She has a great sense of humor, and, for such a talented musician, a very down-to-earth approach to music.

Alice Coltrane's music is incredible and also very unique. I've been listening to many of John Coltrane's albums for the past ~25 years, but I somehow never really got exposed to Alice Coltrane's solo harp work until recently. When I first watched some videos of her leading a band while playing jazz harp, it just blew my mind. In my opinion, she is incredibly creative, and her musical style is quite unique. I've listened to a LOT of jazz in my life-- jazz from the 50s + 60s, bebop, hard bop, cool, free jazz from multiple eras, etc. AND YET, Alice Coltrane's harp-based jazz is really like nothing I had ever heard before. Obviously you can hear the influences of John Coltrane and other jazz greats in her music, but I would still say that her style is very distinct. It's very interesting and, I'd argue, underrated.

That clip of Brandee playing really makes me want to hear harp on a Tigran style progressive jazz track
