Outlook issue with Reading Pane and Compact Layout view - The Office Expert

Показать описание
Ever struggled with Microsoft Oultook's Compact View or Single-Line Layout of Mail items? Then this video is for you. This How-To video resolves the issue of Outlook automatically reverting to the obscure and bulky "Compact Layout" view when you increase the size of your Reading Pane situated at right. This results in loss of Column headers and an unhelpful stacked, space-wasting list of mail items. This becomes cumbersome when wanting to easily sort by particular columns and at the same time display a large amount of mail items on the screen simultaneously. In this video i've used '100' as the increment to reorganise my List of Mail Items but you can reduce it to as low as you want if you have a small screen. Try '25' if your screen is smaller than 27" wide.

Great tip. Thanks for making the video. Couldn't find the fix in Microsoft sites.

Thank you!! I've been trying for 2 days, with the help of multiple people in my office, to get my preview pane back to how it was before an update. It was driving me nuts!

This worked - thank you. The fix I had found prior to this was a wildly elaborate fix that involved creating a new profile outside of Outlook, adding new settings, etc. Yours fixed it with a few quick clicks. Thank you!!

Worth noting that i couldn't find this option in the new outlook version, but you can go to View settings > Layout and select "Switch between one and multiple rows based on screen size, under the Message height option.
