Όπως αναφέρει το κρατικό Συριακό πρακτορείο ειδήσεων SANA, η Ισραηλινή αεροπορία εξαπέλυσε απόψε σφοδρή επίθεση, χρησιμοποιώντας μαχητικά αεροσκάφη τα οποία εκτόξευσαν πυραύλους εναντίον στόχων, στην περιοχή της Δαμασκού και της Χομς, αλλά η Συριακή αεράμυνα κατάφερε να καταρρίψει τους περισσότερους από αυτούς.
Η στρατιωτική πηγή από όπου ενημερώθηκε και το πρακτορείο, δήλωσε επίσης ότι αυτή τη στιγμή διενεργείται απολογισμός της εν λόγω επίθεσης και ότι αυτή προήλθε από τον εναέριο χώρο του Λιβάνου.
Σύμφωνα τώρα με πληροφορίες από το Συριακό Παρατηρητήριο Ανθρωπίνων Δικαιωμάτων, οι πύραυλοι χτύπησαν αποθήκες πυρομαχικών και στρατιωτικές θέσεις της Χεζμπολάχ, στα νοτιοδυτικά της Χομς.
Αυτό όμως που επισημαίνει το Newsweek είναι ότι η επίθεση πραγματοποιήθηκε λίγες ώρες αφότου η Χεζμπολάχ δήλωσε, ότι έχει εξασφαλίσει ένα φορτίο με καύσιμα από το Ιράν.
