When this happened in the game, I wanted to hug him so bad. Basil didn't deserve the pain he endured for years.

I feel like Sunny only shakes his head to stop you from entering a certain place when he's afraid. He did so after you opened the door for Hellmari on the first night, and if you try to go out the back door or into the piano room in his house. The fact that he shakes his head if you try to go back into Basil's bathroom makes me think he is genuinely afraid of going back in there. At this point, from Sunny's perspective, Basil is basically being portrayed as a monster.

This also ties into a really interesting aspect of the game to me. This is an example of the game not letting you do something that Sunny wouldn't do. Now, remember that you were able to open the door for Kel and leave your house on the first day of the story. This isn't the player taking over and doing something Sunny would never do, it's Sunny making that decision in the story. It was probably incredibly difficult for him to do something like that. And comparing his ability to open the door _then_ with his inability to open the door _now_ is incredibly interesting. He literally refuses to, that's how much he doesn't want to confront Basil or his past at this point. Opening the door for Kel was difficult for him to do, but he _could_ do it. Opening the door for Basil was simply _not an option._

The scariest part of this to me was the fact we could just.. LEAVE. There's nothing you can do for Basil. Not at all. It terrified me how easily you could just walk out.
