okay--i did this. i asked and got my books into three stores locally. They sold and were reordered. Covid was still going on some so no signings offered at that time. Then I went to find out if they would carry book 2. The man who orders for the store talked to me--and was condescending and said, HE didn't put indie books in at his store and he would not be ordering any more int the future. Really gave me a bad taste in my mouth. I had hoped it was just that store. I moved into houston and spoke to another B&N--in store they were amazing when I asked about a book signing. I was told how to make contact at that time. Then I received an email from the manager. She was not nice--said I would have to guarantee sales--by bringing people in and said that she would return any unsold books. WOW--i told her thanks but no thanks. I did do a signing at an indie store--and they were amazing--you brought your own books and used square for the purchase. I just feel each store in each area will behave differently.

Great vid. You have the personality for a book signing. I hope everyone realizies personality is key. You are on stage in a fishbowl. Smile and enjoy the process. If no one buys a book, imagine how many more people know you, your name, your product. My goal has always been not to sell, but to market. If they buy a book, thats gravy. I've always, always got a bump in online sales after an event. Take pictures, lots of pictures. Of customers, the store, employees. Take video of complemeting a customer on her outfit or hair, or playing peek a boo with a baby. WORK THE ROOM. Don't stand behind a table and wait for people to come to you. Meet them at the door. Be the store greeter. Lifestream if you can. Its all gold for marketing. Never forget to thank the store. Give the store a great review. Tell everyone how clean and well stocked the store is, how friendly and professional the staff is. Great job Beth. Im certainly going to check out more of your vids.
