I picked up my sister this afternoon she goes to this school, I never hugged and cried so hard. Condolences to those who lost loved ones ❣️

What’s really sad is it happens so often now people just go. Oh that’s horrible then a day later it’s forgotten and everyone carries on as if it’s normal.

I am from the Detroit area. Use to go to church in Oxford. Just read an article about this. I have something to say.

It says there were no warning signs. Yet some say the suspect was bullied. THAT'S A WARNING SIGN!!! There were some rumors. THAT'S A WARNING SIGN!!!

Now, a word from someone who was bullied for most of my 12 years of school. All but kindergarten. No one takes bullying seriously, not until things like this happen. I've had to live with the effects of those years of bullying ever since. I'm 58. At 3 years of age, one of my children was bullied, beaten by older kids... At church. They were dealt with. 32 years later, that child is in therapy, partly due to that.

Bullying is not little. It affects your life long after the incidents. Mostly it doesn't end in a shooting spree, but the effects aren't positive. You hear of someone being bullied, become that person's hero. You're that person's parent, stand up for them. Do your job and be their advocate. Get them help before things get this far.

Thank goodness the law enforcement officer was already in the school during the shooting. He was able to apprehend him and this guy is a hero. Things could have gotten much worse if he wasn’t there.

Shouldn’t we be aggressively addressing mental health of our school aged children? This is terrifying to a parent.

The fact that this just keeps going after so many people have died throughout these situations is horrendous. And it just goes away the next day. Pathetic

I just had my neighbor who's son attended the school just die after sustaining bullet injuries from the shooting. I've never witnessed this tragic saddest day happening in my entire life of being Detroit resident for 33 years. 😭😭😭😭😭😭

I'm from this area. I moved my boys from the city to the suburbs to hopefully keep them safe, and offer a better education, but it's not safe now. Too many people are radical and parents aren't raising they're children properly. I don't know where to go now. It's not safe anywhere 😔

so sad. Unfortunately these thing will continue. As a Haitian man, I get conflicted seeing news like this. My country has strict gun laws and gangs took over the capital. Americans need not take their guns for granted and react emotionally. Trust me, bad guys will find guns. Parents need to be more involved in their kids life and do their best to address whatever issues they deal with. RIP to the victims.

Let me guess. It's a kid everyone knew was an outsider and treated him/her as such. The kid was ostracized and bullied offline and online until lashing out.

This is horrible. Imagine your kid just said goodbye to you in the morning, and you had no idea it was the last time you see him/her alive...

Important facts left out: gun man was a sophomore student and he was armed with a handgun and shot for 5 min then surrendered.

I am officially numb to this now, this happens way too often and nothing gets done about it.

I just got home from Middle School in West Virginia, I got in my mom's car and she told me that her friend's daughter was one of the wounded. She is okay right now. She is currently in surgery right now. I hope that everyone is okay, Hope from Mountaineer Middle School, Monongalia, West Virginia.

Several thoughts run through my head, I'm sure only one of which will be at all well received:

-Rest in peace those that have been cruely taken too soon.
-If you own a gun get a good safe and do not reveal the combination.
-The magnified isolation of social media claims more victims.
-Guns do not fire themselves, it's the minds that misuse them that's the real problem. Even without guns minds that contemplate committing such atrocities will just use a different tool.

I know I'm going to be ridiculed and insulted for saying some of that, feel free to let it out. I'm stable. I grew up before social media.

My sincere and humble condolences to anyone affected by this tragedy.

Amendment: To any who may reply; feel free to disagree on any point but please remember that this is the comment section of a tragedy.

When I was growing up many people drove around with a gun hanging in the back window of their truck and they did not shoot anyone. Things sure have changed.
