I'm pretty sure this was kind of like a fourth wall break, since she mentioned the elephants in the last season, a lot of people were going to be disappointed they're not in the episode. Cersei's reaction reflects the audiences reaction.

I never understood Cersei’s plan, if the dead took Winterfell. Kings Landing is so far from Winterfell, and there are many lords and lands between the two. The army would be five times larger than what Jon fought.

It’s funny because in the books the golden company literally brought elephants into Westeros.

Young Griff led the golden company to invade the stormlands, meeting the tyrell army, they had cog ships loaded with elephants and used their elephant brigade in the storm land rainforest. Though elephants weren’t very effective because tyrells and stormlanders use road spikes to break elephant foot.

They shouldn't have rushed the last season. They should have shown it's the best season of GOT and did their very best because it's the last season but still they rushed the show.
