14th gen just a rebrand of 13th gen just a rebrand of 12th gen.
The main component to consider is the GPU which unfortunately due to NVIDIA's extreme monopoly decides the price segment of the whole product.
Would choose a 12700H with 4060 any day over a 14900HX with a 4050, even better would be seeing a 4080 paired with an older i7 CPU but such products either don't exist or are in "unattainable" price category.

i just got a TUF A15 (r9 8945H + rtx4070), a great jump from my old nitro 5 which has rtx3050ti. The battery is outstanding, lasting over 9hr for me (eco mode, 60% brightness). Decision made after consulting Jarrod's videos. Thank you with much appreciation

I clicked on the notification way too quickly assuming this was the Strix Point TUF A16. I forgot that Asus still makes the TUF F laptops 🙃

What are your thoughts on Acer Nitro V laptop with Ryzen 7735HS and RTX 4050 (75W)? It's basically an Acer Aspire laptop with a powerful dGPU and very loud fans.

I had an A15 for a week, and I was noticing too many flaws especially with the BIOS system. None of the troubleshooting worked so i swapped it for a legion 7i which was $850 extra but gave me more of a safe feeling knowing it would be less sketchy.

Why didn't you test the now prev gen omen 17? You did the victus 16. Why not the omen 16 or 17?

Hey Jarrod I was looking to buy the A16 but I saw many people on forums online about issues regarding it just as the blue screen or sleep mode issues. Should I go for it or is it something to not be worried about?

Hi Jarrod
Whats your take on intel CPUs crashing, I want to order AMD only coz I won’t be upgrading for a long time and want something that will last
Do you think intel’s crashing CPUs have finally actually fixed ?

Can you review MSI Sword 16 next, Jarrod? Just want to know your opinion as it retail price is quite enticing combine with the spec that they offer especially B13VGKG.

My problem with this laptop (I bought it over a month ago) that if your integrated GPU is active, the screen flickers. You can solve this problem by disabling iGPU and rely on the dedicated GPU, but that will affect battery life.

I would also like to see the Acer Nitro 16 (AMD) test before Black Friday. It seems that this model has one of the best FHD panels that fits the 4060 perfectly.
P.S.I understand that undervolting is available only in Intel HX processors? Is it not available at AMD at all ?

Hey there! Have you thought about reviewing the Minisforum V3 3-in-1? It's a tablet equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U and a Radeon 780M. From my perspective, it could be really interesting to see how it performs, especially considering it's a tablet with such powerful specs!

I was also thinking about buying a new gaming laptop. Lenovo legion 5i (2024) or Asus Tuff A16 / F16 (2024). Which one would you recommend?

I genuinely believe that the AMD gpus should be checked again, with the implementation of AFMF 2, cards like the 7600S, 7700S and 7600mXT could offer other things compared to the 4050 and 4060.

Even the 6800m of years ago feels like a great alternative against the Nvidia competition, the only downside of these is the lack of presence in the market and an older cpu, but I could guess that the price could justify it?

Between
Acer helios neo 18:
i9 14th gen, 32gb ram, 4060rtx, 165hz refresh rate.
And
Lenovo legion 5i:
i9 14th gen, 32gb ram, 4060rtx, 240hz refresh rate.
Which is better?
