Hail storm hits Roxborough on Wednesday afternoon

Parts of Colorado were hit with hail on Wednesday afternoon. Colorado also had several tornado watches and warnings.

Colorado's first tornado watch of 2023 has been issued for the northeastern quadrant of the state, including most of the Denver metro area and part of the Eastern Plains.

A tornado warning has also been issued for an area of Douglas County including Castle Pines and Lone Tree until 3:30 p.m.

For the first time this spring, widespread severe weather is possible for Denver and the Front Range Wednesday.

There's a possibility of large hail and damaging winds from Denver north to Fort Collins.

The highest threat to the Denver metro area looks to be between noon and 6 p.m. Some risk also remains from 6 p.m. until midnight, though the threat will probably be considerably lower at that point.

At this time, it appears that large hail will be the main hazard for the Denver area, although winds exceeding 60 mph or even 70 mph could also threaten the metro area.
