Ploughing Cover Crop | FENDT 1050 vario + Kverneland LO100 on-land / Dondi Cut Roller | Immink

Ploughing cover crop on arable farm Immink using a Fendt 1050 vario and Kverneland 7 furrow LO100 on-land plow. The cover crop is first cut using a Dondi RT 375 Cut Roller with a working width of 3.5 meter.
Cover crop, also know as Green Manure, is used to upgrade the organic matter and create better soil structure. This crop was sown after the wheat harvest.

I was a city kid growing up, but every summer I would spend a month with my uncle who was a hog farmer. He had a very large operation. 10, 000 hogs and about 15, 000 acres of corn. All the corn went just to feed his hogs. If it was a good harvest, he would have several semi loads to sell, but for the most part it was ground up into feed. I would spend hours plowing, disking, chiseling, spreading manure, and in the fall I would drive a JD 4440 with a grain cart to and from the combine to the semi trailer. 14 hours a day. My uncle would drive out into the field I was in to make me stop. I was back in the seat as soon as I could get my ass there. Just something about that kind of work that makes me happy.

This runs very well, with the roller at the front. The cover crop has done well too. Conditions are good (after dry summer season of 2018). The soil looks perfect, while the field looks smooth and equal, and no crop residues visible on top. Congrats to Tractorspotter as well for great video. All good.👍👌

You've made some excellent observations! The combination of the tractor with the front roller seems to work exceptionally well. It's impressive to see how the cover crop has thrived, especially in favorable conditions following the dry summer season of 2018. The field indeed looks perfect, with a smooth and uniform appearance, and it's great to see no crop residues on top. Kudos to Tractorspotter for capturing such a fantastic video. All in all, it's a job well done!

This is the difference between dirt and soil. Ploughing works best in sandy soils, around where I live it's mostly clay. Great video, the Netherlands is a beautiful country.

Yes, deeprooting cover crops very good for soil the soil structure, however the plowing is destroying it...
