In the previous video we saw how the quantum harmonic oscillator provides a model system in which we can describe the creation and destruction of energy quanta. In 1925 Born, Heisenberg and Jordan presented a way to apply these ideas to a continuous field. (Note: My voice is lower and slower than normal - I was coming down with a cold.)

I just wanted to say that your videos have inspired me to study physics again after working for 18 years as an engineer. I wish I'd had these tools when I was in university...but it's never too late to learn GR and QM ;) What's awesome is that now I get to teach it to my children, and your videos are a great help. I love how you follow the evolution of thought on the topics as you explain them! Makes it so much more motivation by getting both the history as well as the theory! And it makes it easier to grasp actually, as these fellows were excellent thinkers, boiling the concepts down to the essentials!

I like the thorough treatment with references to the original papers on the major concepts. Would have liked to hear though that the electron wave function is not a scaler but a spinor.

Surely there are also infinitely many frequencies possible for the bound state harmonic oscillator. The difference for the Electric field is that there are *uncountably* many frequencies.

So they are trying to write an equation for the movement of the "field" of puddles, streams, might rivers lakes and oceans all with one equation, instead of concentrating on the forces with respect of just single molecule or small groups of H2O. A fools errand, mental masterbation.
