What is an Intelligent Power Module (IPM)?

IPMs are advanced hybrid power devices that combine high speed, low loss IGBTs with optimized gate drive and protection circuitry. The over-current and short-circuit protection is provided with the use of advanced current sense IGBT chips that allow continuous monitoring of power device current. IPM's may also have integrated protection from overheating and under voltage lock out protection.
