This is what happens when the AMA doesn't support it's riders and teams financially to represent Team USA. Chance Hymas is going because Team Honda HRC are probably taking 4 riders with 3 being supported by there national board. Edit: it would seem they are taking 5 riders if Jo is going for Japan.

Literally makes no sense for these riders and teams to go anyways. If they have a serious crash in a unnecessary race that they dont even make money to race then their whole supercross season is in jeopardy. Supercross is where these guys make the big bucks, why risk that for a race that pays nothing. Ask yourself this if your job told you you had to work on your day off and your not gonna get paid would you do it? Hell no none of you would so why should these guys
