This song will always remind me of my mom, who passed away on January 5th. After a tough divorce when I was five, our relationship struggled, and I was neglected by her all through my childhood[d. I even told her I wouldn't cry at her funeral. We didn’t talk for five years, but eventually, we reconciled. I apologized, and she did too. Those nine years we spent together were precious, especially watching her be a wonderful grandmother.

When I hear this song, I always hear her regret in the lyrics and the countless time she apologized afterward despite forgivenes being given. The ending to our story was beautiful; I was the only son by her side on her deathbed, expressing my gratitude for her love.

This song is tragic yet holds a beautiful reminder of our journey together—beauty and brokenness forever upon this song.
